Would you like to buy someone you know some 100%-cruelty-free cosmetics/household products/soaps in festive wrapping?  Have no fear!  A bunch of cruelty-free companies have some lovely gifts available right now:

You can also send holiday ecards from various organizations that support alternatives to animal testing — Physician Committee for Responsible Medicine, PETA, and the American Humane Association.  The Humane Society of the United States is offering a collectible gift ornament if you donate $50.

And remember, if you’re going to donate to charity, here is a list of ones that do not support animal testing.  And I suspect the Physician Committee for Responsible Medicine, PETA, the American Humane Association, and the Humane Society of the United States would love to be donated to as well :)

Update: Compassion over Killing has some holiday cards, and the Glamorous Grad Student has a list of recommended Lush stocking stuffers.

Update II: AAVS has some lovely holiday ecards as well!

Not to be a debbie-downer or anything but I don’t trust LUSH. They’re not even certified by the CCIC. I emailed them before complimenting that it’s great that their products or ingredients aren’t tested on animals and asked them to consider getting certified by the CCIC. I even told them that the CCIC logo is a great marketing scheme to advertise their company. They never got back to me! Not even a “Thank you for your comments” email. Very dissappointing.

Thanks for this great list of humane gift ideas.

I’d like to add that I just got some cool stuff from Compassion Over Killing, one of my favorite animal groups. They just launched a new “Compassionate Holiday Cheer” marketplace with great gift ideas, and really cute holiday cards with snuggling pigs on the front!

    Hi Patricia!

I’m so touched you’re upset with Lush for not being CCIC-approved! I used to feel the same way but then I found out that Lush is approved by the CCIC’s Australian sister-site, which has the same no animal testing on ingredients or final products rules. Why Lush hasn’t signed on with the CCIC is beyond me as it sells a huge amount of products in the U.S.

But I’m appalled on your behalf that Lush didn’t get back to you — that’s very rude of Lush’s customer service.

    Hi Meg!

Thanks for the information on Compassion Over Killing — that’s a great addition to this list of cruelty-free holiday items!

    Regards,
