Happy belated Thanksgiving everyone!  I hope you all had a lovely holiday!

I thought I’d try to be vegan for December.  I’ve pretty much managed to give up most nonvegan products (so hard!) but I still have issues with (1) cheese, and (2) desserts. This is especially difficult for me because I’m a foodie.  Luckily I’ve had a head start by trying to eat only humanely raised dairy/egg products for a while now — this has made me eat veganly at all the inexpensive restaurants I usually go to.  It seems that most of the humanely-raised restaurants around here are all in the moderate-to-expensive category.  (I feel I should mention Chez Panisse here — it has humanely raised everything, and it’s an very-expensive restaurant masquerading as a moderately-priced restaurant if you go to their upstairs cafe that isn’t fixed price, or you go to the cheaper Monday fixed-price dinner!  So if you’re looking to splurge ethically and economically, it’s a good place.  I haven’t been feeling too splurgey lately so I haven’t been going.)

This doesn’t mean I don’t like you if you’re an omnivore.  I still do, okay?  I used to basically be a carnivore so it would be kind of hypocritical of me to dislike omnivores.  As long as you oppose factory-farming I can see your point of view :)

So, I’ll try to update every day to tell you how it’s going . . .

(For some reason the comments seem to be working poorly — if your comment disappears, it’s not your fault — please email me!)

Yay! I’m so happy your trying veganism! The Vegan Gourmet brand is a really good cheese alternative compared to other brands. I’m a huge dessert lover too. There are lots of amazing vegan dessert recipes at http://www.vegweb.com/
I’ve made some of the recipes for my co workers and family members and they love them.
