I thought this was a good lotion — maybe not a great lotion, but a solidly good lotion. It is pretty lightweight, it doesn’t make my face look too shiny, it doesn’t make me break out, it has a very faint fragrance — slightly chemically-scented. I took a star off though because it is a little too liquid in consistency, which means I keep pouring more of it out than I want when I open the bottle, and it has no sunscreen in it. Not even one that doesn’t block any UVA rays.
Dermalogica describes the oil control lotion as “a feather-light lotion with technically advanced micro-sponges to absorb oil on the skin’s surface throughout the day, reducing shine and providing a smooth, matte finish. Formulated with Salicylic Acid to help prevent future breakouts and exclusive Skin Response Complex of Balm Mint, Coneflower, and Camphor to soothe and purify the skin. Ideally suited for an oily or acne-prone skin. Contains no artificial fragrance or color.”
Dermalogica Oil Control Lotion (6 oz) is available for $33.00 plus $8 shipping from Amazon.
You can also buy it as part of the Dermalogica sample kit for oily skin for $28.53 plus free shipping from Amazon.

Hi Kathy!
Welcome to my blog! I have not tried Origin’s mattifying lotion so I’m not sure how it compares to the Dermalogica oil control lotion, but so far I have not found the oil control lotion to be too drying. (However, I don’t have very dry skin — just some dryish patches on my cheeks, really, so I may not be the best test subject for that.) If you’re at all familiar with Alba Botanica Sea Moss moisturizer, I’d say the oil control lotion is about half as moisturizing as that.

I have very oily, fair, sensitive, acne prone skin. This lotion is working for me. I work out alot and it doesn’t run in my eyes when I sweat and I think my complexion is changing for the better. I also don’t get any itch from it. I use all the Dermalogica recommended products now. I have been a Burt Bee’s customer and several other Vegan types but just to greasy. The products run in my eyes and make me have to wash my face to much or build up in my pores. I really would recommend this lotion if your skin sounds like mine.

Bobbie — welcome to my blog! Thanks for the review of the lotion — glad to hear it’s working for you. And it’s making your complexion change for the better — that is high praise!
